This week, we partnered with the Latino Center of the Midlands, Family Housing Advisory Services and United Way/211 to provide a pop up event on energy assistance. Nebraska social service workers were also on-site to assist with applications for LIHEAP. Our Energy Assistance Program (EAP) is entirely funded by donations from customers, employees and community partnerships. 100% of the program funds go towards helping customers who are struggling to pay their utility bills. Meet Stacy, Chemist at OPPD. 👋 👩🔬 Stacy's love for water and nature began in childhood near her family's farm in Auburn. Her previous experience as an intern at Nebraska City Station and family ties to OPPD made it a natural choice. For 18 years, Stacy has been an integral part of OPPD. Stacy's role at OPPD revolves around ensuring water quality and chemical safety in power plant operations. She extensively tests and analyzes cooling water, steam cycles and water treatment processes, then monitors and adjusts chemical dosing for optimal performance. Her efforts contribute to the function of OPPD's baseload power stations. By managing chemical processes, monitoring air quality and collaborating with OPPD teams, Stacy plays a vital role in OPPD's commitment to safe, reliable and sustainable energy generation. The chemist role requires a science-based education, problem-solving and verbal communication skills, attention to detail and commitment to safety—all of which Stacy has in spades!
